Driven by a shared passion for guitars, the team at Altered States Studios embarked on a unique project to blend their love for music with creativity, leading to the inception of the Steampunk Guitar Stand. This project was more than just a functional piece; it was an adventure into design and engineering, challenging the team to push their limits while infusing fun into their work.
The initial idea evolved from building a guitar to crafting a stand that would not only securely hold the instrument but also embody the aesthetic and practicality of the Steampunk theme. Recognizing the inadequacy of conventional stands, the team set out to create a robust and visually captivating stand equipped with features like built-in storage, a bottle opener, and thematic lighting, all constructed from a harmonious blend of wood and metal.

Central to the design was a brass trivet found on eBay, which became the stand’s focal point, complemented by brass pipes that added both support and style. The design process was dynamic, with the team keeping an open mind for additional elements that could enhance the stand’s Steampunk flair, such as decorative metal sheets discovered during a supply run.
The Amityville Horror Connection
An unexpected source of inspiration came from the iconic Amityville Horror House, whose distinctive windows influenced the stand’s design, adding a touch of intrigue and character. This element, combined with the practical additions of a beer bottle opener and a guitar cable hanger, underscored the stand’s blend of functionality and whimsy.

After assembling the base and drawers of the stand, the team decided to incorporate two essential features for any guitarist: a beer bottle opener and a guitar cable hanger, blending utility with a touch of humor. They further enhanced the stand’s aesthetics by adding angled metal trim and rivets, infusing it with a punk essence.
The project was finalized with a protective finish and foam padding, culminating in the creation of the Steampunk Guitar Stand, a perfect fusion of form, function, and flair.
