The Robo3D R1 3D Printer

Used in Projects:
- Lucille – The 3d Printed Negan Bat
- COVID Face Shield Donations
- Bismuth Molds
It’s a few years old now, but our Robo3D R1+ 3D printer has been an amazing purchase. In 2015, we picked up our first 3D printer and started the journey of melting plastic layer by layer to build up some amazing objects.
The first time you use a 3D printer is when you realize just how useful and powerful it can be. Even back then, there was a pretty large community of makers all creating things and sharing the files online, but you were sometimes limited with the technology at that time. But not anymore!
Now in 2022, the technology has become so much better and faster, and now multiple 3D printing options are available at a much more reasonable cost to the consumer. But even now, we still use our old Robo3D R1, which you can pick up for a steal in the used market.
Creatively, we have used our Robo3D to print our Walking Dead Lucille bat. It is also used to print the objects we turn into silicone molds for our bismuth projects. But one of our most important projects was to print the face shield base for local hospitals during the initial months of the COVID outbreak.
Hospitals and local doctor’s offices were all crying out for PPE during the nationwide shortage at the beginning of 2020. We noticed some online 3D printing communities printing face shields and donating them to their local communities, even uploading the files for others to do the same. And that’s just what we did.
Our Robo3D worked overtime as we printed just over 100 face shields and donated them to our local healthcare professionals.
Without our 3D printer, none of this would have happened. The ability to find or design a 3D product on your desktop, transfer the file to the printer, and have a solid object in a few minutes or larger ones in a few hours is amazing. And now, with so many new filament options available, the sky is the limit!
Check out the gallery of items below we have created using our Robo3D printer. Over time we will add more and more, so keep checking in to see what items have been recently printed.
